Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Mercer County Criminal History. Visiting a page, submitting a search through an outside tool, or using any content means that the visitor agrees to them. Anyone who does not accept the conditions should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with Mercer County, the State of Missouri, or any government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service designed for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions, or for any other use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. We are not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

Mercer County Criminal History is an independent reference site. It does not maintain official records, perform government background checks, retrieve case files, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its content directs readers to custodians such as the Mercer County sheriff, Missouri Circuit Court, Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services, and Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect visitors with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, a visitor agrees not to:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, Missouri, or local law
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate a person using information found here
  • Use site content for a credit, employment, housing, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any account, server, or system
  • Deploy scrapers, bots, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Interfere with site performance or another person's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information reached through this website or a linked tool may not be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, attack, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. The rule is especially important for Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry data. Research did not identify a Missouri law creating a standalone crime called public-user registry misuse. That does not excuse wrongful conduct. Ordinary laws against harassment, threats, violence, and other unlawful acts still apply, and misuse may harm a registrant, household member, neighbor, or person mistakenly matched.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports. Visitors may not use site content or a linked tool to:

  • Set an insurance rate or assess creditworthiness
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other decision governed by the FCRA

An official or legally compliant check for a regulated purpose must come from Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS or another provider authorized for that purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Mercer County charge, warrant, conviction, registry duty, or expungement rule applies to a particular person. A licensed Missouri attorney should address case-specific questions.

6. No Warranties

The website and its content are offered "as is." We make no warranty that:

  • Every statement is complete, accurate, or current
  • The website will always operate without interruption
  • The pages will contain no error, defect, or security weakness
  • An outside search provider will return complete or correct results

Criminal records can change after charges are filed, amended, dismissed, closed, or expunged. A reader must verify information with the Mercer County or Missouri office holding the original record.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-resource, or outside search sites. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their content, availability, prices, terms, or privacy practices. Their conditions should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless another owner is identified, the site's text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Mercer County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damage resulting from use of the site, reliance on its content, or use of information supplied by a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold us harmless from a claim, demand, or proceeding arising from that visitor's use of the website or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Missouri law governs these terms. A dispute connected with use of the website must be brought in a court located in Missouri.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. A revised version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end a visitor's access at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected term will be narrowed only as far as required for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
